Objectives of the Course
To provide focused, centralized risk management training to ensure that staff throughout the Bank are fully versed in credit policies and procedures
To equip risk officers, relationship managers, and sales teams to deliver the Bank’s credit products and services within corporate and regulatory standard
To forge teamwork in acquiring, nurturing and managing credit relationships
Course Description
Basic Credit Will cater to staff with less than 3 years
experience in the Bank, new recruits and staff with little or no formal risk
training. The course will teach the fundamentals of accounting and financial
analyses and how to initiate and manage credit risk in the Bank. VaudRisk Credit
Life Cycle will be the model for instruction in the 5-day course. The VaudRisk
Model will cover Target Marketing and Credit Initiation through Early Warning & Monitoring systems and Remedial Management. Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering will also be covered. Classroom instruction will be complemented by guest and video presentations. There will be limited case work and participants will be required to take part in individual tests as well as in team contests. VaudRisk will provide lead instruction and guest presenters will be drawn from the ranks of the Bank’s
Senior Management and Industry Specialist or subject matter experts in their
respective areas of the Bank. A class size of 20 to 25 participants is recommended.
Pre-course reading will include sections from Bank’s Credit Policies and Procedures Manual.
Pre-requisites will include self-instructional readings in basic accounting and basic financial analyses.

Course Description
Intermediate Credit: For Staff with 3 to 5 years experience in banking. The course will focus on cash flow projections and analysis; management and competitive analyses; structuring, security and support; and financial tools such as Debt Rating Models [DRM], Obligor Risk Rating [ORR] and Facility Risk Rating [FRR]. Classroom instruction and the case study will be the principal teaching methods and these will be complemented by video and guest presentations. Focus areas will include Due Diligence at initiation and renewal of credit; Problem Recognition; Operational Risk; Market Risk; Anti-money laundering and Fraud Detection. Team assignments and presentations will be a feature as will individual tests and team contests. A class size of 15 to 20 participants is recommended.
Pre-course reading will include case studies and some sections of the Bank’s Credit Policies and Procedures Manual.
Pre-requisites will include individual reading assignments in Basel II Compliance and current credit issues.
